Straw Bale Gardening ® By Joel Kirsten
Review and Giveaway

I ran across this website for Straw Bale Gardening and I knew I wanted to read. It looked like something I wanted to try for gardening. They did not have a class in my area so I thought of buying the book.  Then I decided to see if he might send me a copy to review and giveaway on my Site.   I was very happy to get the response back and then a few days later my books arrived. Thank you, Joel for these copies to review. Continue to read the Review by clicking. The giveaway has ended. Please follow us for more great giveaways.

Review
This 32 page  book is explained by its title. It is directions on how to grow a garden using Straw bales instead of a traditional soil garden. This can be helpful for those who have trouble bending as it is higher up to weed. It also is said to have very minimal weeding due to being grown in the bale.

Something I really like when it comes to a book that is going to guide me on how to do something is clear cut directions that get to the point.  This book is just that. First it tells you how to set your bales up and create a trellis in between them if you want to grow climbing plants. It gives step by step directions on how to condition your straw bale in order to prepare it for growing. This has a day by day guide for 10 days telling you how much fertilizer and water to add and when.

Once you are past the conditioning part it tells you how to keep the bales wet enough to keep your plant growing.  Joel also tells you a very nifty way to check to see if it needs water. I won’t give his trick away, it’s in the book. I will say that I will be using it. This also is said to keep down insects and disease and promote worms which we all know help our plants grow. I will be using this in part of my garden this year to try it out and I will be showing this to the garden club at the church to see what they think. Check out his site and find out more. I would have loved to take one of his classes  but  they are not in my area.  There is a list on his Website so that you may check to see if he has one near you. The book is available in pdf as well for those who don't like to wait for mail.  I was surprised at how fast mine arrived.
Disclosure: Although I did receive a free copy of this book as I stated here all opinions in my review are my own. I am not trained in Straw Bale Gardening ®  and can not answer any questions pertaining to the subject other than the opinions I have formed when reading it. He has a Facebook page you may want to check out as well.

One of my lucky readers will be winning a copy of this book all you have to do is enter here!

Gardening is one of my hobbies. This is along with my passion in landscaping. Gardening and landscaping make give me sanctification. It's good to see a house with an amazing garden area and an incredulous synthetic grass landscape. Anyway, I am curious about this straw bale gardening.
